My favorite reading would have to be about Second Life. I just found the whole concept of how you can create a whole other person if you wanted to. It allows you to basically create an image of your self in the way you wish to be seen. Some create what they already are and some create something completely differnet then what they are today. I found this most interesting because I feel this is what the internet and Social Networking sites allow you to do. They allow you to create what ever it is you want to create. In the real world the only way you can truly create is by changing you style of clothing or something small like that. Online you can change so much and the internet allows you to do this. There is nothing stopping you from being who you want to be and nothing stopping you from becoming something you wish to be viewed as. Second Life offers so much to people. That is why I enjoyed reading about Second Life so much.

ReplyDeleteI enjoyed reading your post on your favorite reading because I also found the article Second Life to be quite fascinating and how you can create another person if we feel like it, like a clone of ourselves. I completely agree with you that the internet and social networking sites allows us to create a differnt identity and person if we think about it. Online we are able to be who we want to be and people are not sure what to think because they may see one person in face to face one way, and the other (online) a whole another person. That is why I do like the online social networking sites in the way we are able to portray ourselves how we want and people can view us on how we choose ourselves to be. However in person, just on our nonverbal communication even if someone does not know us, they can perceive us in a different way than we think we are portraying.
