I read the article 90% of Americans own a computerized gadget from CNN.COM. The title speaks for its self but it is extremely crazy how many people now a days posses es something electronic. Eighty five percent of Americans own a cell phone! Technology is everywhere and taking over. I know people who would litterly feel physically effected if they forget their cell phone before they go out. An attachment with our technology is growing and growing. So when new devices are brought out to the public most people feel that they need to own it.No one want to be left behind and when an obsession with devices is present people will always want to upgrade. I personally feel all companies know this exact thing. I also think companies have devices that are so advanced it would blow peoples minds. The thing is they gradually make these advances available to people. They give the public enough to satisfy their obsession but leave just enough so they will want more. People rely on technology and the numbers prove it.

ReplyDeleteI can't agree more that the technology industry has a huge influence on the consumption in our society. They know exactly what they're doing when they come out with a "newer" version of the Ipod, or a "faster" version of the Droid. That ironic thing to think about is that a person without any of today's popular gadgets would be considered almost caveman for not staying up to date. It's nearly impossible to be productive or even successful in today's world without owning a computerized gadget. There's so many movies now about technology taking over control. It's no wonder where they got the idea from. Kinda sad that we're not longer the independent human beings we once were.
This article is very similar to the one i wrote about 85% of US adults owning a cellphone. It is an intriguing number knowing how many Americans own technology. It is truly growing with our generation and the means of communication is advancing also. Americans use this new technology to communicate to people around the world via smart phones and the internet. I agree with you that people in today's society rely and depend on new technology to keep coming out. Every year companies come out with new products and Americans flock all the stores to get it before it is sold out. We are very dependent on technology.
