Week #1 Discussion

Hi so I am a Sophomore at San Jose State University. I honestly want as many people to become a fan of my page or join because I honestly have no idea what I am doing so the more help the better! Face book is the farthest I have gone when it comes to technology. On a personal level I do enjoy listening to music and playing baseball.  Although i love to play baseball I am not much of a fan when it comes to watching it on TV or watching any sport, i would rather play. In my past I have taken Comm 10 and Comm 80 so i do have some teachings in communications. I can say I am fully confident when it comes to having a prepared speech and talking in front of a group of people. Anything beyond that is all coming from the top of my head so one of the major goals I want to reach at the end of this class is a new passion and understanding for this type of communication. Personally i believe limiting yourself to face to face communication skills will greatly set you back in this day and age. As a nation especially we are so technologically advanced and dependant that this is key to the non verbal communication world. After this class I want to broaden my availability for people and also feel like I am out as far as I can be in the world and not just stuck with face to face conversations and hitting refresh every 5 minutes on my face book page. So hopefully this Week #1 Discussion was written in the correct place if not feel free to let me know!

  1. Hey there,

Neat name! I completely understand on how you like playing baseball more than watching, most people I know, say they love playing sports and being in the game opposed to just watching it. It's more fun to experience the action by actually being in it than just watching it from the stands.

I agree with you that since we're in the 21st century and everything nowadays is technology based, we need to broaden and expand our horizons by being able to communicate in different ways besides face to face communication. I think the best form and use of communication is all types such in person, over the internet, even texting because although all are different and similar in their own ways, they all help us to become more effective communicators.

Hope you get to reach your goal this semester and beyond.
